Happy Monday fam!
Emily and I have been trying to experience the DFW area every weekend, doing something different and fun!
So last week we went to the Bluebonnet Festival in Ennis, Texas with our sister-in-law and nephew!

Ennis is only about an hour away from the DFW area – straight shot – and with so many bluebonnets you would be surprised to see how beautiful the acres of land filled with that violet blue color as far out as you can imagine.
I am originally from Texas. I spent my entire childhood here – my Dad’s side of the family is born and raised in Texas and I have deep roots here. Everything about Texas feels like home. The crazy ants that will eat your face off, the hornets that live in the ground that will murder you when you mow, even the rattlesnakes! In the past year I have discovered more love and light for myself because I was never taught that I deserved love and light. Let’s just say my inner child needed a lot of love.
Something led us here. This winter was awful. I don’t know about any of you but Emily and I suffer from seasonal depression and the winter is when it hits the hardest. The cold dead lifelessness of the world we see, and the nature we can’t feel anymore – it creates a distance within us that is hard to put in words. Dallas this year has shown us a cold like no other. And honestly we HATED everything about it , we needed greenery, storms, nature, life! And then as if it was over night we started hearing the birds again. The grass started growing back green. The trees were no longer bare.
And then the wild flowers came.

A couple weeks ago we started seeing the bluebonnets spring up all over Texas. And then the buttercups!
Last year on my birthday I got my favorite tattoo of buttercups – and they make my heart sing every single time I see them! So when the field of buttercups popped up by our place *by the interstate of course* I begged Emily to take pictures. This is the biggest field of buttercups I have ever seen!
Yall.
I think I have forgotten how much I ADORE those damn flowers.

Every year, since before I can remember my family took bluebonnet pictures. Well – we are now living in Texas so that was a must do for us this year! So we packed our camera and tripod picked up the family and headed down to Ennis.
Ennis, TX is small town U.S.A. The storefronts are full of wildflowers and smiling southern hearts. Every vendor we came across greeted us as if we were neighbors and had the most unique gifts! We listened to live music – actual live music – and ate food truck snacks! We spent the better part of the day driving around the bluebonnet trails that the city has mapped out for visitors to see the most bluebonnets. If you were wondering – yes I did get lost! Our nephew got to take so many great pictures and run around in the bluebonnet fields and yall we had the BEST time with them!

We wanted to share some of our moments with you, mainly because we want to remind you that the end of the dark season is finally here. There is so much to remind us that beauty is EVERYWHERE – even during the coldest seasons of life.
What are some your favorite flowers?!
Have a happy week!
